Given reports indicating that antimicrobial\u0026nbsp;peptides and neuropeptides induce mast cell activation, we postulated\u0026nbsp;that catestatin might stimulate numerous functions of human mast cells,\u0026nbsp;thereby participating in the regulation of skin inflammatory responses.\u0026nbsp;Catestatin and its naturally occurring variants caused the human mast cell\u0026nbsp;line LAD2 and peripheral blood-derived mast cells to migrate, degranulate\u0026nbsp;and release leukotriene C4 and prostaglandins D2 and E2.
