It normally appears in large letters above the report, giving the gist of the story or article that follows. The grammar of headlines is often non-standard and they are difficult to read.The journalists of English newspapers, in particular, use different grammar rules rather than everyday English for the sake of brevity and readers’ interest.This research aims to investigate the significant grammatical features of newspaper headlines and to find out theirgeneral peculiarities. The research focuses on an analysis of the newspaper headlines from ‘The Global New Light of Myanmar’. The sample headlines are collected from the newspapers published during January, 2022. The framework offered by Phil Williams is used to analyze the grammatical features of the headlines.
