The study is mainly concerned\nwith the structural changes in imports of Myanmar. The major objectives of the study\nare: to examine the patterns and trends of Myanmar\u0027s imports since independence; to\nconsider the determinants which influence the behavior of Myarunar\u0027s irnports; to\ninvestigate the evidences of structural changes in Myanrnar\u0027s imports at both\naggregate and disaggregate levels.\nThe study covered the periods of market-based economy, socialist economy\nand market-oriented economy, using the secondary data. Structural breaks are tested\nat the points of changes. After the points of structural change have been confirmed,\nprice and income elasticities of demand for irnporls were estimated by a log-linear\nmodel which provided constant elasticity estimates for each period.
