Description | ||||||
Abstract Protected areas (PAs) are the main, most widely used conservation tools for addressing the loss of biodiversity worldwide. Myanmar, in recent years, increasing in population, unsustainable overexploitation of natural resources had led to the loss of natural resources. To effectively prevent such situations, Myanmar enacted the new national Conservation of Biodiversity and Protected Areas Law, 2018 and established protected areas to conserve precious natural resources and biodiversity in the region in line with the Convention on biodiversity Diversity. However, in some protected areas, some threats such as illegal logging, pollution, human intrusions and disturbance have occurred. This study reviews the existing national laws and standards, and international standards relevant to preservation and protection of protected areas for nature conservation and provides some recommendations on possible approaches to effectively implement and monitor it. |
