During the COVID-19 pandemic all MLC countries were confronted with the impacts of the pandemic including severe social and economic challenges. MLC countries recognized the need to cooperate for a smooth and speedy recovery . It is interesting to find out the challenges of MLC countries achieving a sustainable recovery in the post-pandemic era under the framework of Mekong Lancang Cooperation (MLC). With this question in mind, the objectives of the paper are to evaluate challenges of the recovery in MLC countries and to explore priority areas of cooperation under the MLC mechanism. The findings pointed out that ML countries have five major challenges from the pandemic.
