The subregon has been facing tremendous challenges\nin order to enhance the merchandise trade. One of the major impediments\nthat this subregion is facing is the lack of improved cross-border physical\nconnectivity. To meet these challenges, this paper argues that BIMSTEC\ncountries need to develop regional transportation and transit network that\noffers efficient transportation. This paper recommends that BIMSTEC\ncountries should develop an effective transportation and transit facilitation\nsystem that will greatly reduce current physical and non-physical barriers\nto transportation and transit.
