Description
The present research was carried out to prepare and apply spinel MgCo2O4 nanoparticles for benefits of humans. The spinel was prepared by Sol-Gel method. Magnesium nitrate, cobalt nitrate and formic acid were used as starting materials. Ethylene glycol was used to homogenize mixture solution. The prepared spinel MgCo2O4 nanoparticles was characterized by EDXRF (Energy Depressive X-Ray Fluorescence),and XRD ( X-Ray Diffraction) . From EDXRF result, main constituent in the spinel was cobalt (99.635%). From XRD analyzed data, crystal structure of prepared sample was cubic and average crystallite size of the spinel was 35.33563 nm. Some physicochemical properties such as pH, moisture and ash content, and bulk density of the spinel MgCo2O4 nanoparticles were determined by laboratory method. These values were (pH =10.22), (moisture = 1.5%), (ash = 16%), and (bulk density = 0.4 gcm-3). Turbidity removal efficiencies of the spinel was determined by turbidity meter. The excellent value of turbidity removal efficiency of the spinel was 83.46 NTU of shaking time 60 minutes. Antimicrobial activity of the spinel was determined by Agar Well Diffusion Method. The spinel showed antimicrobial activity against five microorganisms such as Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, and Bacillus pumilus.
