Description | ||||||
The study of this paper is to investigate the Cobb-Douglas production function for chickpea production of ShweHlay village, Pwintphyu Township. This model is fitted for the relation between a dependent variable such as chickpea production and set of independent variables such as land, labor and fertilizer. Simple random sampling was used for primary data collection from 104 farmers growing chickpea. Descriptive statistics using percentage and frequency tables were used in the analysis of the socio-economic characteristics of the chickpea growers. According to the results, gender distribution can be found that the number of male chickpea grower is larger than that of female. Farmers growing chickpea has age group between 50 to 60 years is largest. The total population of the primary school level is 43.3%. and the largest number of farmers growing chickpea less than 10 acres. Based on the Cobb-Douglas production function, and the linear function. Whereas the coefficient of determination 𝑅 2 is 0.866 and F-statistics is 216.122. Findings from the study indicate that land and fertilizer were positively and significantly at 1% level while labor was positive and significant related to chickpea production in ShweHlay village. There exists constant to scale to return but its value would increase after efficient use of all inputs. |
