Utilization of Maternal Health Care (MHC) services can save unnecessary severe complications and death among women during pregnancy, delivery and after delivery and it is approximate determinant of maternal morbidities and mortalities. This study aims to investigate the socio-economic and demographic factors that affect women’s use of MHC services. The secondary data used for the study have been obtained from the 2015-16 Myanmar Demographic and Health Survey (MDHS 2015-16), a nationally representative survey of ever married women 15 to 49 years of age. In this study, the primary data from the Dagon Myothit (East) Survey were also used to determine which socio-economic and demographic factors influence the utilization of maternal healthcare. Binary logistic regression analysis has been applied to the data collected from both surveys, to explore the significant factors of Antenatal Care (ANC) usage. Moreover, multinomial regression analysis has also been applied to the data from both surveys to determine the effective factors on place of delivery and type of assistance during delivery. In binary logistic regression analysis for ANC usage, the MDHS shows that the education level of both husband and wife, urban place of residence, birth order, husband being household head, and household size are significant predictors. However, husband's education level is the only significant factor in multinomial logistic regression analysis for place of delivery and urban place of residence is significant only for delivery at home. For assistance during delivery, the multinomial logistic regression analysis reveals that woman's education level, urban place of residence, birth order and household size are statistically significant. In the case study of Dagon Myothit (East), urban place of residence and husband as household head have been the significant determining in binary logistic regression analysis for ANC usage which are consistent with MDHS. Also, urban place of residence is statistically significant in multinomial logistic regression analysis for assistance during delivery which is consistent with MDHS. | ||||||
