This study is used descriptive methods by using secondary and primary data\nand multistage cluster sampling method. A total of 357 households were selected as\nsample and the data was collected by using face to face interview with structured\nquestionnaire. Most remarkable findings were: more community participation and\ndevelopment of community groups, better water supply, improved community\nawareness on hygiene, better waste disposal system in the village and households; more\naccess to handwashing facilities and improved handwashing behavior; improved\nknowledge about diarrhea; and better practice of using mosquito nets at night as well\nas communities should maintain good behaviors and good practices and still need to\nchange some bad behaviors and need to improve latrine design, handwashing facilities,\npersonal hygiene and so on. Among the respondents, it was found that the communities\nare good attitude and practices of water, sanitation and hygiene. Recognizing the level\nof knowledge, attitude and practice on water, sanitation and hygiene of the rural\ncommunities is an important step in the search for the answers needed in the WASH\nsector of the Lashio area.
