Women’s participation in Myanmar politics is a fundamental role for gender\nequality and democracy. According to 2018 gender inequality index, Myanmar was ranked\nas 148 of the 189 countries. The National Strategic Plan for females recognized a main\npriority as ensuring females’ political participation and leadership role in the government\nand civil societies. The role of Myanmar women in parliaments is more limited than that\nof other ASEAN countries. But the number of elected female representatives in the 2015\nelection (13.7percent) are more increased than in the 2010 election (6 percent). However,\nMyanmar females still have faced with challenges and difficulties to their representation\nand equal participation in political and public sectors.
