This study aims to find out\nthe ways to reduce the car parking problem and to identify the causes of the car \nparking problem in Yankin Township at Yangon. The method of study is based on the \ndescriptive analysis and the structured questionnaire is used to collect information \nfrom 150 respondents especially those who stay on the Main Road Wards in Yankin \nTownship. This study finds that the major source of the parking problem in Yankin \nTownship is an imbalance between demand and supply of parking. There is no \nsystematic parking place. There are shops stall on both roadsides on narrow roads that \nareas exhibit high parking situations. In the Market area does not have a specific car \nparking place, occurs illegal parking. This area is mixing with commercial and \nresidential areas. These areas demand more parking spaces but increasing the number \nof parking space are restricted by the limitation of land use and traffic regulation. The \nsolving ways as per demand choice are to be created off-street parking by charging \nsystem is implemented by a government (50% of respondents) than a private company \n(45% of respondents). Furthermore, policies are proposed to improve parking and to \nbe effective management of reducing the parking problem in Yankin based on the \ncity’s current parking status (53% of respondents). Limitation of the car import policy \nwill not be effective in reducing the parking problem (48% of respondents). A finding\nof this study gives information that management is a key tool in systematic \nurbanization development. Also, a plan is important.
