Mawlamyine City is located in Mawlamyine Township within Mon State. Traditionally, Mon people are strongly devoted to Buddhism since before Bagan Era and religious buildings were established since ancient time. In Myanmar, most religious buildings are established on the higher places such as mountains, hills, etc. Therefore, religious buildings are concentrated in Taungyoedan Area which is higher in elevation than other parts of the city and which itself is less fragile. Most of the buildings are Pagodas and monasteries related to Buddhism but a Hindu Temple is also found there. The   high density of religious buildings and worse natural disasters has impacts on these religious buildings. The objectives of the paper are to find out distribution pattern of religious buildings and to understand local people perspective on these religious buildings and to present the present condition of religious buildings in Mawlamyine City.
