The advent of XML (Extensible Markup Language) as a de facto standard for information exchange and the development of query languages for XML data enable the development of more sophisticated filtering mechanisms. In this paper, we describe our work on creating user profiles through XML-QL to support semantic filtering of XML documents for mobile clients using publish/subscribe paradigm.
