The main objective of the study is to analyze the benefits and risks of using internet and social media among young people. A sample of 210 undergraduate students from Yangon University of Economics (Ywa Tha Gyi Campus) are selected as respondents. A structured questionnaire was formulated and direct questionnaire method was used in this study. The findings suggest that most of the respondents are enjoying various benefits such as learning, communication, participation, expression and entertainment though there is still much room to improve in terms of creativity on the internet. Some respondents are suffering from various risks such as cyberbullying, encountering pornographic, privacy invasion, inappropriate or potentially harmful contact, false or fake information, isolation and depression. Most of the respondents are aware of the risks of using it however they do not know much about the laws.
