According to FAO (2001), crop diversification has been recognized as an effective strategy for achieving the objectives of food security, income growth, poverty alleviat ion, and employment generation, judicious use of land and water resources, sustainable agricultural development, and environmental improvement. The study area, Myingyan Township, is located in the Dry Zone of Central Myanmar. The combined effects of climatic condition and the exiting soil types lead to grow in number of crops. Actual l y it is just meant for the food security in the local area. Therefore, the crops which can be mat ured within the short growing season are selected by the local farmers by using various types of cropping pattern.
