This study aimed to investigate and compare the thinking skill levels in Straightforward Series: Level 1A to Level 4B, theadapted versions for Arts and Science (except English specialization) undergraduate students of Myanmar. For this purpose, the instructions of tasks and activities in eight Straightforward coursebooks – Level 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, 4A and 4B – were collected and analyzed according to revised Bloom’s taxonomy proposed by Anderson and Krathwohl (2001). Based on the results of the analysis, it is found that Straightforward Series which are English in General PurposeCoursebooks can nurture higher order thinking skills which are also known as critical thinking and creative skills of students.
