Description | ||||||
This paper illustrates how linear programming techniques are used as applicable in the manufacturing sector. Linear programming is a technique of optimizing for the system consisting of a linear objective function and linear constraints. An objective function is defined as the quantity to be maximized or minimized, and the constraints are the limitations of the decision variables. Linear programming uses linear algebraic structures, given a business purpose and resource constraints, to describe a manager’s decisions. In business, it is also important to find the rates of output that will produce the maximum profit or minimal cost. The objective of this paper is to find the values of the variables that maximize or minimize the objective function. For problem solving, it is also used ‘solver’, a Microsoft Excel add-in program. |
