Thenetwork coding can indirectly reduce the amountof energy consumed for the transmissions fromthe cluster heads to the base station. An energyefficient2-hop path selection protocol is alsoapplied to further reduce the energyconsumption for data transmission from sensornodes to a cluster head node. We set up acomputer simulation in MATLAB to see theperformance of our proposed scheme.
