Disaster recovery (DR) is an important elementof the complex information technology (IT) systems. The availability of the IT for everything, fromeverywhere, at all time is a growing requirement.Effective IT strategies need to have both highavailability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR).Nowadays, virtualized platforms have become themost popular option to deploy complex enoughservices. Software availability is one of the weakestlinks in system availability. Web servers havecontinuous execution of long duration and with rathervaried workloads. Such characteristics make thempotential candidates for a degenerative phenomenoncalled software aging. The work presented in thispaper aims to offer the high availability solutionagainst software aging of virtualized local disasterrecovery (VLDR) by providing measurement basedsoftware rejuvenation. The idea behind our paper istwo-fold. First, we present the framework seeks tomaximize the number of services runningsimultaneously, while guaranteeing the resourcesneeded by each service. Second, we estimate the timeto aging-related failures and then which used as agingfailure rates for measurement based softwarerejuvenation through a stochastic reward nets model. Finally, we perform the numerical analysis to evaluatethe performance of the model. | ||||||
