A mucocele is an epithelial-lined, mucus containing sac completely filling the sinus and capable of expansion. This is in contradistinction to a blocked sinus cavity which simply contains mucus.These are benign lesion causing expansion of the paranasal siuses. Mucoceles are most commonly found in the frontal sinus followed by the ethmoid sinus. Maxillary and sphenoid sinuses mucocele are rare.
