Description
The Kayan (Padaung) who regard themselves as the master of the hilly regions and who have that peculiar custom of wearing brass rings around their necks and legs. The Kayan (Kangan) alias the Yinbaw who have the custom of wearing silver coins around their necks and who mostly live on the plains. The Kayan (Gaykho) who mostly reside on the highland regions and who speak the language which very much resembles that of the Kayan (Padaung) nationals and The Kayan (Lahta) alias (Zayein) who usually live among the rocky parts of the lands, in small houses and whose male people have all bald heads. I tried to collect the reliable data for my work as much as I could, during the trip. In making research on the social organization, customs and traditions of the Kayans (Padaung) of the Peking village group. I found that they have changed a lot, through the process of cultural diffusion and influence of other religious beliefs so much so that the famous tradition of their 'Kae-htoo-boo' worship and the peculiar custom of brass rings wearing had already become the receding phenomenon.
