A total of 243 alleles were detected with an average of 8.4 per locus among 114 rice accessions. Major allele frequency (MAF) ranged from 0.22 to 0.98 and the average is 0.52. The averages of gene diversity and polymorphic information content (PIC) values were 0.61 and 0.57, with a range from 0.04 (SSS) to 0.87 (RM241) and from 0.04 (SSS) to\r 0.86 (RM241), respectively. In cluster analysis, 90.4% of accessions (shared \u003e 70% membership with one\r of five clusters) were classified as members of each cluster, whereas 9.6% accessions showed evidence of\r mixed population ancestry. The Korea weedy rice, \u2018Sharei rice\u2019 collected from isolated island, \u2018Ganghwa\u2019 appears to be a very primitive rice cultivar for being separately grouped from indica and japonica.\r It might have changed its genetic background along with adaptation to such an isolated region.
