Description
This study examines the relationship between socio-demographic factors and
hazardous child labor in Yangon Region, using data from the "Myanmar Child Labor
Survey (2022-2023)" by the Central Statistical Organization. It analyzes 363 child
labors, aiming to identify the prevalence of hazardous labor and its influencing factors.
Descriptive statistics and chi-square tests reveal significant associations between
hazardous labor and factors such as gender, place of residence, employment shifts of
child labor, work hours per day and medical support. Logistic regression indicates that
males, those with less experience, and those working daytime and evening shifts are
more likely to engage in hazardous work. Additionally, child labors with less monthly
income and those with more working hours are less likely to engage in hazardous work.
The study recommends that the government focus on creating a safe environment for
children's development are vital to the country’s future.
