In this study, cellulose was extracted from coconut coir fiber via acid hydrolysis, alkali treatment and chlorite bleaching. Chitosan was prepared from crab shell by demineralization, deprotenization and deacetylation. The lithium chloride/N,N-dimethylacetamide (LiCl/DMAc) solvent system was used to obtain cellulose-chitosan composite hydrogel solutions. It was converted to the cellulose-chitosan composite hydrogel films by phase inversion method without cross-linker. XRD, SEM, FT IR and TG-DTA analyses were utilized to characterize the properties of prepared composite hydrogel films.
