In order to meet the research objectives, both primary and\nsecondary data are used. The descriptive methods and linear regression method are\napplied in this study. The primary data are collected from 130 students out of 193\nstudents who are studying in Chindwin Technological University, Mandalay Campus.\nThe survey data is collected by using simple random sampling method. The data\ncollection period is from June to July, 2023. The secondary data are collected from\nprevious research papers, internet websites, published journals and relevant text\nbooks. In this study, individual needs include related, autonomy and competence\nneeds. Engagement consists of cognitive, emotional and behavioral engagement. The\nfindings of the study indicated that the relationship between students and surrounding\npeople- namely parents, teachers and friends - have a positive effect on the individual\nneeds of the students. Secondly,indivisudal needs – namely related need has a\npositive effect on the engagement, autonomy need has a positive effect on the\nengagement and competence need has a positive effect on the engagement of the\nstudents.
