Therefore, the causes of under-five mortality need to be investigated\nbecause it is a critical issue for the development of a country like Myanmar. This\nstudy attempted to analyze under-five mortality in Myanmar with an application of\nthe various zero-inflated regression models. A sample of 3670 mothers with children\naged 0-59 months was collected from the 2015-2016 Myanmar Demographic and\nHealth Survey (MDHS) for the data analysis. As a result, the zero-inflated Poisson\nregression model was the most appropriate model among a variety of zero-inflated\nregression models to represent the under-five mortality in Myanmar. The results\nrevealed that mothers’ education, household size, childbirth order, and type of fuel for\ncooking significantly affected the under-five mortality in Myanmar. Among those,\nchildbirth order and mother’s education level were the most significant effects on\nunder-five mortality. Therefore, concerned efforts should be made to improve mother's\naccess to education and birth control. The simulation analysis also found that the zeroinflated\nPoisson model appeared to be unbiased because the average value of the\nestimate for each parameter was close to the respective estimated coefficient from the\nzero-inflated Poisson model. Hence, the Myanmar government should plan the\nrespective programs and promote the infrastructures, health care services, well-being,\nand survival of a new generation of Myanmar children."}]},"item_1583103120197":{"attribute_name":"Files","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2023-10-27"}],"displaytype":"preview","filename":"Tin Htay, EMDevS-9, 7th Batch.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"1.7 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_0","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"url":"https://meral.edu.mm/record/9067/files/Tin Htay, EMDevS-9, 7th Batch.pdf"},"version_id":"5eb05b24-3e58-49e5-8991-51b41bbf04f3"}]},"item_1583103233624":{"attribute_name":"Thesis/dissertations","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_awarding_university":"Yangon University of Economics","subitem_supervisor(s)":[{"subitem_supervisor":"Dr Naw Htee Mue Loe Htoo"}]}]},"item_1583105942107":{"attribute_name":"Authors","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_authors":[{"subitem_authors_fullname":"Tin Htay"}]}]},"item_1583108359239":{"attribute_name":"Upload type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"interim":"Other"}]},"item_1583108428133":{"attribute_name":"Publication type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"interim":"Thesis"}]},"item_1583159729339":{"attribute_name":"Publication date","attribute_value":"2023-08-01"},"item_title":"A Study on The Conditions of The Development of Yangon Region (2011-2022) (Tin Htay, 2023)","item_type_id":"21","owner":"20","path":["1582963436320","1582965681303"],"publish_date":"2023-10-27","publish_status":"0","recid":"9067","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["A Study on The Conditions of The Development of Yangon Region (2011-2022) (Tin Htay, 2023)"],"weko_creator_id":"20","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2024-05-27T03:52:52.872114+00:00"}
