The study aims to examine the perception of care givers on special\neducation and to determine the association between socio-demographic of caregivers\nand their perception on special education in Hlaing Tharyar Township. A community\nbased cross-sectional descriptive study design was used. A total of 160 caregivers were\ninterviewed by face to face. Data was collected by using structured questionnaire. This\nstudy found that the majority of the respondents had good knowledge about special\neducation needs. Most of the respondents also had the good perception and 100%\ninfluence on making decision and 100% support for their child’s special education. There\nwas statistically significant association between knowledge and perception score for\nspecial education and gender and family income per month.
