The stratigraphic status of these limestones outcrpping intermittently on the west side of the Sagaing fault is  a matter of dispute until the first finding of Upper Paleozoic fauna (Myint Thein et.al, 1982). Some specimens of colonial rugose corals, indicator of Paleozoic age, were discovered from this limestone unit.
