In his reign, Sino-Myanmar relations were good, and among the gifts mutually exchanged between two countries were included Myanmar jade. In Myanmar, jade trade was a boom during 1831 to 1840.  Myanmar monarchs began to take interest in the extraction of jade.  Jade trading was carried out only by the Chinese.   From king Mindon's reign jade was declared on Royal monopoly and jade trade had enriched Myanmar King’s treasury. In 1869 King Mindon enacted a Jade Law.  Even today, jade is the most popular precious stone for the Chinese and Myanmar.
