The collected plants were identified by the literature references to confirm its identity. The present research was carried out to study the morphological characters, qualitative analysis and antimicrobial activity of the leaves of Hibiscus cannabinus L. For the qualitative analysis, the powdered leaves was investigated to determine the presence or absence of active chemical constituents according to the methods of Marini Bettalo and Trease and Evans. For the antimicrobial experiment, the six solvent extracts of powdered leaves were tested on six microorganisms by using paper disc diffusion methods. The aim of this study is to find the medicinal plant scientifically which has effective medicinal values. In the result of morphological studies, inflorescences were axillary and solitary cymes and flowers were hypogynous. In qualitative analysis, alkaloids, glycosides, flavonoids, α-amino acids, reducing sugar, carbohydrates, protein, steroids, terpenoids, starch and saponins were found to be present in the leaves of H. cannabinus L. Some of these phytochemicals are believed to protect cells from damage that could lead to cancer and help to stop carcinogens from attacking cells. In the results of antimicrobial studies, ethyl acetate and methanolic extracts of leaves showed the highest activity on E. coli. Therefore, the leaves of H. cannabinus L., a source of natural antimicrobial agents,can be used in medicinal purposes."}]},"item_1583103108160":{"attribute_name":"Keywords","attribute_value_mlt":[{"interim":"Hibiscus cannabinus"},{"interim":"Phytochemicals"},{"interim":"Antimicrobial activity"}]},"item_1583103120197":{"attribute_name":"Files","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2021-01-28"}],"displaytype":"preview","filename":"Sandar Sann, Dr.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"28.7 MB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_0","url":{"url":"https://meral.edu.mm/record/7874/files/Sandar Sann, Dr.pdf"},"version_id":"f7d1e9e6-6e93-41c8-8ff2-ae01070b0b6a"}]},"item_1583103131163":{"attribute_name":"Journal articles","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_issue":"I","subitem_journal_title":"Meiktila University Research Journal, 2020, Vol. XI, No.1","subitem_pages":"340-344","subitem_volume":"XI"}]},"item_1583105942107":{"attribute_name":"Authors","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_authors":[{"subitem_authors_fullname":"Sandar Sann, Dr"},{"subitem_authors_fullname":"Ni Ni Htun, Dr"},{"subitem_authors_fullname":"Thida Myint, Dr"},{"subitem_authors_fullname":"San San Oo, Dr"}]}]},"item_1583108359239":{"attribute_name":"Upload type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"interim":"Publication"}]},"item_1583108428133":{"attribute_name":"Publication type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"interim":"Journal article"}]},"item_1583159729339":{"attribute_name":"Publication date","attribute_value":"2020-08-31"},"item_title":"Morphological Characters and Phytochemical Investigation of Leaves of Hibiscus Cannabinus L. and its Antimicrobial Activity","item_type_id":"21","owner":"183","path":["1608242063591","1608715550695"],"publish_date":"2021-01-28","publish_status":"0","recid":"7874","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Morphological Characters and Phytochemical Investigation of Leaves of Hibiscus Cannabinus L. and its Antimicrobial Activity"],"weko_creator_id":"183","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2021-12-13T06:57:58.477023+00:00"}
