In this quasi-experimental pretest and post-test research, sixty numbers of students in the experimental group (N=30) and the control group (N=30) were included .The students were first year non-English specialization students (specializing in Myanmar, Oriental studies and Zoology) from Meiktila University. The teachers were tutors from department of English of Meiktila University. The theory used were mainly based on reading strategies by H.Douglas Brown(1994) and reading sub-skills of Barrett’s taxonomy(1968).The aim of this study is to develop students’ reading comprehension levels through strategies and subskills. The objectives are to improve students’ reading comprehension and to develop their reading performance. The results of this study show that the grades of the students from the experimental group were significantly better than the control group.
