However, how birds respond to\r urbanization in tropical cities is understudied in general and entirely absent from Myanmar. We conducted a study in and\r around Mandalay, a large city in central Myanmar to gather first data on birds and their response to urbanization.We selected\r four habitats with 10 sampling points each in November 2015. We made 1,536 observations of 68 bird species. The number\r of species and diversity significantly differed between the four localities. Mandalay Hill and Downtown Mandalay had the\r lowest number of species and diversity, whereas the University Campus and Paddy Fields had the highest. The highest\r number of observations was in Downtown Mandalay (1,003 counts) and the lowest on Mandalay Hill (103). Nonmetric\r multidimensional scaling ordination techniques showed that the four habitat types had significantly different bird species\r composition. Our results indicate a large effect of urbanization on species diversity, species richness, and species composition\r of birds."}]},"item_1583103108160":{"attribute_name":"Keywords","attribute_value_mlt":[{"interim":"bird diversity"}]},"item_1583103120197":{"attribute_name":"Files","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2020-05-05"}],"displaytype":"preview","filename":"Nonbreeding Bird Communities Along.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"638 Kb"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"url":"https://meral.edu.mm/record/752/files/Nonbreeding Bird Communities Along.pdf"},"version_id":"6d725fce-c920-4741-a6b8-697a1a791a13"}]},"item_1583103131163":{"attribute_name":"Journal articles","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_journal_title":"Tropical Conservation Science"}]},"item_1583103147082":{"attribute_name":"Conference papaers","attribute_value_mlt":[{}]},"item_1583103211336":{"attribute_name":"Books/reports/chapters","attribute_value_mlt":[{}]},"item_1583103233624":{"attribute_name":"Thesis/dissertations","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_supervisor(s)":[]}]},"item_1583105942107":{"attribute_name":"Authors","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_authors":[{"subitem_authors_fullname":"Suarez-Rubio, Marcela"},{"subitem_authors_fullname":"Thein Aung"},{"subitem_authors_fullname":"Sai Sein Lin Oo"},{"subitem_authors_fullname":"Nay Myo Shwe"},{"subitem_authors_fullname":"Nay Myo Hlaing"},{"subitem_authors_fullname":"Kyaw Myo Naing"},{"subitem_authors_fullname":"Tun Oo"},{"subitem_authors_fullname":"Mie Mie Sein"},{"subitem_authors_fullname":"Renner, Swen C."}]}]},"item_1583108359239":{"attribute_name":"Upload type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"interim":"Publication"}]},"item_1583108428133":{"attribute_name":"Publication type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"interim":"Journal article"}]},"item_1583159729339":{"attribute_name":"Publication date","attribute_value":"2016"},"item_1583159847033":{"attribute_name":"Identifier","attribute_value":"https://umoar.mu.edu.mm/handle/123456789/286"},"item_title":"Nonbreeding Bird Communities Along an Urban–Rural Gradient of a Tropical City in Central Myanmar","item_type_id":"21","owner":"1","path":["1582967066693"],"publish_date":"2020-03-05","publish_status":"0","recid":"752","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Nonbreeding Bird Communities Along an Urban–Rural Gradient of a Tropical City in Central Myanmar"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2021-12-13T02:47:51.856867+00:00"}
