The urban area of Yangon city has been rising rapidly and great\nchanges have taken place in the past 20 years, especially after 2000. The\npopulation and urban size of Yangon have grown tremendously between 2000\nand 2019. In 2019, the population of Yangon city is approximately 4477638 and\nthe population density is 12308 per square kilometre. The disadvantages of\nhaving a large population and urbanization are many facts. Deforestation, land\nsurface temperature and urban heat island (UHI) have resulted from them. Heatrelated\nillness is the consequence of surface and air temperature rising. Since the\npast ten years ago, heat-related illnesses were many occurred in Yangon city.\nThe study area has been selected by two main facts (1) population and (2) the\nrate of urbanization. This study aims to investigate the reaction among the\ndeforestation, land surface temperature (LST) and urban heat island (UHI) in\nYangon city. The main data was landsat7 ETM+ of 17 February 2003 and\nlandsat8 of 21 February 2019 satellite images which were cloud-free data. Many\nspatial statistical equations and methods were applied to this research process.\nThe research shows that the minimum land surface temperature (LST) is rising\nfrom 25.1046 °C to 26.2854 °C and the maximum is 42.1150 °C to 43.7832 °C\nfrom 2003 to 2019. The vegetation coverage (NDVI) has decreased and the\nurbanization area (NDBI) has increased.
