The school sector is in need of \nreforms to restore public trust after several highly publicized scandals \nresulting from mismanagement and leadership failures undermined the \nreputation of the sector. Selecting transformational leaders who can bring \npositive, values-based change to school represents a significant challenge \nand an opportunity. Understanding the relationship between values and \nleadership styles of principals can assure school that transformational \nleaders have strong values and can also assist nonprofit boards in the \nleadership assessment and selection process. The goal of this quantitative, \ncorrelational research study was to investigate the relationship between \nthe leadership styles (transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire) \nand values (self-direction, universalism, benevolence, tradition \nconformity, security, power, achievement, hedonism and stimulation) of \nprincipals at selected high schools in Mandalay. Three hundred and \nnineteen survey responses were collected from a total population of 380 \nrespondents.
