Learning Cycle used in this study has seven phases; that is the\n7E Learning Cycle Model. This model requires instruction to involve the\nfollowing discrete elements: elicit, engage, explore, explain, elaborate,\nevaluate, and extend (Eisenkraft, 2003). It is an experimental research.\nTreatment was based on instructional design of 7E Learning Cycle\nModel. According to the format of that design, (6) sample lessons of\nlearning materials were constructed. The target population was Grade\nEight students from Basic Education High School, Kyeemyindaing\nTownship and Basic Education High School, Insein Township. Simple\nrandom sampling method was used. Therefore, (120) students and (4)\nscience teachers participated in it. The instrument used in this study was\na posttest. Learning materials were selected from Chapter (5), Earth and\nSpace, from Grade Eight Science Textbook. To study the effectiveness of\n7E Learning Cycle Model in science learning, one of the trueexperimental designs, posttest only control group design was used.\nIndependent samples t test was used to test the hypotheses of this study.\nThe result of this study shows that there was a significant difference in\nachievement between science learning of grade eight students who\nreceived learning with 7E Learning Cycle Model and those who received\nlearning with formal instruction that uses currently. The results indicated\nthat the experimental group achieved significantly better than the control\ngroup in performing at knowledge, comprehension and application level\nscience questions. So, it verifies that Learning Cycle Model brings\npositive effects on students' science learning at Middle school level.
