Data popularity is akey factor in data replication as popular files areaccessed most frequently and then they becomeunstable and unpredictable. Moreover, replicasplacement is one of key issues that affect theperformance of the system such as load balancing,file access rate etc. Therefore, we focus thesefactors in this paper. Although the current HadoopDistributed File System (HDFS) replica placementpolicy can achieve both fault tolerance andread/write efficiency, but this cannot achieve loaddistributions. Moreover, the current HDFS replicaplacement policy does not consider bandwidth andDataNodes’ storage utilization. To address thesechallenges, this paper proposes a dynamicreplication management scheme; it includes replicaallocation and replica placement algorithms.Bandwidth and storage utilization are considered inthe proposed data placement algorithm in order toachieve faster file access rate and load balancing.We calculated the popularity growth rate andreplica degree based on popularity growth rate asverification.
