In order to reduce thisproblem, traffic congestion states of roadnetworks are estimated so that congested roadcan be avoided. In this system, we estimate thecurrent traffic congestion states of user’s desiredsource and destination and present the estimatedresults in Google Map. To get the traffic data weuse GPS data from mobile phones on vehiclesbut this GPS points can have ambiguity. Thedecision support topological based mapmatching algorithm that can solve the ambiguityof GPS data is used to identify which vehiclesare on which road by matching these GPS datawith road networks. The historical trafficcondition data of each road network on eachtime using the pre-collected data are utilized inthis research. We use Hidden Markov model(HMM) for estimating the traffic condition statesof these road network using historical trafficdata. These estimated traffic probabilities statesare presented by coloring (traffic jam for red,traffic heavy for blue and traffic normal forgreen) users’ desired source and destination roadsegments on Google Map.
