In featureextraction, only a single feature named spectral entropy isemployed. The spectral features of recorded audio stream areprocessed by means of shorter basis. Classification frameworkis based on an efficient region growing technique that bears itsorigins in the field of image segmentation. The efficiency of thisclassification approach is investigated over a range of realaudio streams and generated data sets consisting of news frominternet radio stations such as BBC, United Nations and musicexperts extracted from CDs. These datasets include a number ofmale and female speakers and music clips of different genres:pop, classic and rock. The results indicate that this system canbe used in segmentation and classification of speech and musicaudio data with accuracy reaches 97%.
