In Glusterfile system, data among the storage servers arerebalanced after adding a new storage server to theGluster storage pool or removing the storage serverfrom the Gluster storage pool. The main issue inGluster file system is inefficient data rebalancing; alarge number of file migrations, a large amount offiles migration time and inefficient storage utilization.Therefore, a data rebalancing mechanism for Glusterfile system is proposed to achieve efficient storageutilization, to reduce the number of file migrationsand to save files migration time. There are two maincontributions in this paper: using consistent hashingalgorithm with virtual nodes from Amazon dynamo toreduce the number of file migrations and to save filesmigration time and migration of virtual nodesbetween storage servers to provide efficient storageutilization.
