At thenetwork level, accurate node mobility prediction maybe critical to tasks such as call admission control,reservation of network resources, pre-configurationof services and QoS provisioning. At the applicationlevel, user mobility prediction in combination withuser’s profile may provide the user with enhancedlocation-based wireless services such as routeguidance, local traffic information and on-lineadvertising. In this paper, an approach for predictingthe next inter-cell movement of a mobile user inwireless network is presented. The future location ofa mobile user is predicted based on the user’smovement history. User mobility patterns are minedfrom the history of mobile user trajectories.
