This paperpresents the architecture and work flow of anintelligent surgical robotic system that we aredeveloping. Our robotic surgical system isdesigned to augment and enhance the hand-eyecoordination capability of the surgeon duringoperation in order to achieve the desiredoutcome and reduce invasiveness. Byincorporating advances in surgical simulationand robot-assisted surgery, patient specificsurgical plans can be derived with robotmanipulation included. This highly autonomousrobot is also provided high level of intelligenceby cognitive engine, a key component of thesystem, for effective collaboration with thesurgical team.
