Indeed, whenever a singlenode crashes, the availability of the whole systemmay be compromised. However, the distributednature of those systems provides the mean toincrease their reliability. Traditionally, componentreplicas are managed using two main designapproaches: active replication (AR) and passivereplication (PR).
