It is an important technique to improve crop production of\r vegetable crops such as tomato, watermelon, muskmelon etc. This study was\r undertaken to evaluate the effects of different rootstocks on performance of grafted\r tomato and to determine the suitable rootstock. In the experiment, local cultivars of\r eggplant (ခရမ ပ ဒသ\r ), hot pepper (ရမည သင မ\r ထ\r င ) and tomato\r ( က \r က မ ခ င စ\r မ ) were used as rootstocks and commercial tomato cultivar (Platinum\r 701) was used as scion. Three sets of experiments (two pot experiments and one field\r experiment) were conducted at the Department of Horticulture and Agricultural\r Biotechnology, Yezin Agricultural University from 2014 to 2016 using Randomized\r Complete Block Designs (RCBD) with 4 replications. Results indicated that all tested\r local types (eggplant, tomato and hot pepper) are feasible to use as rootstock for\r tomato production since the grafting success rate is over 70%. Leaf emergence rate\r (Plastochron day-1) was faster and plant height was taller in the grafted plants than\r non-grafted plants. Increased photosynthesis efficiency with higher chlorophyll\r content leads to enhanced plant growth and reproductive developments of grafted\r tomato (0.81 and 58.7) compared with the non-grafted tomato (0.75 and 52.3).\r Marketable yields were also higher in the grafted tomato (4146.1 g plant-1) than nongrafted\r tomato (2491.7 g plant-1). Among the plants, grafted plants with rootstock of\r local eggplant produced the highest marketable fruit yield (5071.4 g plant-1) followed\r by grafted plant with rootstock of local tomato (3894.3 g plant-1) and local hot pepper\r (3472.6 g plant-1). However non-grafted plants showed the lowest marketable yield\r (2491.7 g plant-1) in field production. The results suggested that grafting on suitable\r rootstock has positive effects on plant growth and fruit yield of tomato and local\r eggplant rootstock was the most suitable rootstock for the grafted tomato"}]},"item_1583103108160":{"attribute_name":"Keywords","attribute_value_mlt":[{"interim":"tomato"}]},"item_1583103120197":{"attribute_name":"Files","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2020-05-05"}],"displaytype":"preview","filename":"Darli wai soe MS thesis 2017.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"605 Kb"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"url":"https://meral.edu.mm/record/173/files/Darli wai soe MS thesis 2017.pdf"},"version_id":"cc85fb78-e887-4be6-9f3f-c57b1d0107ee"}]},"item_1583103131163":{"attribute_name":"Journal articles","attribute_value_mlt":[{}]},"item_1583103147082":{"attribute_name":"Conference papaers","attribute_value_mlt":[{}]},"item_1583103211336":{"attribute_name":"Books/reports/chapters","attribute_value_mlt":[{}]},"item_1583103233624":{"attribute_name":"Thesis/dissertations","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_supervisor(s)":[]}]},"item_1583105942107":{"attribute_name":"Authors","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_authors":[{"subitem_authors_fullname":"Darli Wai Soe"}]}]},"item_1583108359239":{"attribute_name":"Upload type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"interim":"Publication"}]},"item_1583108428133":{"attribute_name":"Publication type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"interim":"Thesis"}]},"item_1583159729339":{"attribute_name":"Publication date","attribute_value":"2017-07"},"item_1583159847033":{"attribute_name":"Identifier","attribute_value":"https://yauor-yau.archive.knowledgearc.net/handle/123456789/261"},"item_title":"Effects of different rootstocks on plant growth, development and yield of grafted tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)","item_type_id":"21","owner":"1","path":["1582969222431"],"publish_date":"2020-03-05","publish_status":"0","recid":"173","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Effects of different rootstocks on plant growth, development and yield of grafted tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2021-12-13T01:22:08.713808+00:00"}
