Japan and Myanmar banking industries .This study highlights comparison of corporate governance between Japan and Myanmar banking industries . The corporate governance of Japanese banking industry has been closely scrutinized as one of the most important causes for the currently prolonged stagnation of Japanese economy since the 1990s. With the deep root in the long established financial structure and the traditional components of the Japanese corporate system such as the main bank system, cross shareholding, and lifetime employment, these practices are suspected to become unfashionable in the rapid globalization trend. Therefore, the increased awareness in weakness of corporate governance has led to a number of significant changes in the regulatory environment and business practices in the Japanese corporate sector that was aimed for improving financial sector stability. In Myanmar, banking crisis occurred in 2003 due to liquidity shortage. One of the main reasons behind this failure is the lack of\r • effective corporate governance. For the creation of a stable financial system and efficient banking sector, corporate governance adjustments have been set as a high priority for the structural reform in Myanmar. As a result, th e role of bank supervision becomes dominant for improvement of banking sector stability. Therefore, a sound and an efficient corporate governance practice i s also the key to the health of the Japan and Myanmar banking industry."}]},"item_1583103108160":{"attribute_name":"Keywords","attribute_value_mlt":[{"interim":"corporate governance"}]},"item_1583103120197":{"attribute_name":"Files","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_access","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2020-05-05"}],"displaytype":"preview","filename":"Aye Thanda Soe.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"9569 Kb"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_0","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"url":"https://meral.edu.mm/record/1629/files/Aye Thanda Soe.pdf"},"version_id":"95d30204-6b74-4847-808c-f3044b562074"}]},"item_1583103131163":{"attribute_name":"Journal articles","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_journal_title":"Yangon University of Economics Research Journal"}]},"item_1583105942107":{"attribute_name":"Authors","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_authors":[{"subitem_authors_fullname":"AYE THANDA SOE"}]}]},"item_1583108359239":{"attribute_name":"Upload type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"interim":"Publication"}]},"item_1583108428133":{"attribute_name":"Publication type","attribute_value_mlt":[{"interim":"Journal article"}]},"item_1583159729339":{"attribute_name":"Publication date","attribute_value":"2009-01-01"},"item_title":"Corporate Governance in Banking Industry: Comparative Studies in the Cases of Japan and Myanmar (Aye Thanda Soe, 2009)","item_type_id":"21","owner":"1","path":["1582963436320","1582965639643"],"publish_date":"2020-03-05","publish_status":"0","recid":"1629","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Corporate Governance in Banking Industry: Comparative Studies in the Cases of Japan and Myanmar (Aye Thanda Soe, 2009)"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2024-03-06T07:55:33.467025+00:00"}
