AS AFFECTED BY DIFFERENT STORAGE CONTAINERS AND STORAGE DURATIONS","subitem_1551255648112":"en"}]},"item_1583103085720":{"attribute_name":"Description","attribute_value_mlt":[{"interim":"To evaluate the grain and seed quality of Manawthukha rice variety as affected by\r\ndifferent storage containers and storage durations and to identify the proper storage\r\ncontainer and storage duration for quality of Manawthukha rice variety, experiments were\r\ncarried out at Laboratory of the Department of Agronomy, Yezin Agricultural University\r\nfrom May 2016 to May 2017 for summer rice and monsoon rice. In each experiment,\r\n3 x 3 factorial experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block (RCB) design\r\nwith four replications. Factor A was assigned with three types of storage containers: air\r\ntight tin bin, bamboo basket and woven plastic bag, and factor B with three storage\r\ndurations: no storage, two months storage, and four months storage. Seed samples were\r\nstored at ambient conditions. In both storage seasons, head rice yield and 1000 grain\r\nweight were significantly different due to variation in moisture content of stored seeds as\r\nan effect of different storage containers and storage durations. Milling yield, germination\r\npercentage, germination index and seedling vigor index highly differed by the effect of\r\nstorage duration except the milling yield in summer rice storage. Amylose content,\r\ngelatinization temperature and elongation ratio increased, and gel consistency decreased\r\nwith storage duration in all treatments. However, the rates were higher in four months\r\nstorage with the exception of gelatinization temperature and gel consistency. Head rice\r\nyield showed a negative correlation with moisture content and 1000 grain weight.\r\nPositive correlations were found among germination percent, germination index and\r\nseedling vigor index as well as among amylose content, elongation ratio and\r\ngelatinization temperature. Gel consistency showed a negative correlation with amylose\r\ncontent, elongation ratio and gelatinization temperature. Based on the results, grain and\r\nseed quality were significantly influenced mostly due to the effect of storage duration\r\nrather than storage container for a period of four months. Air tight tin bin can maintain\r\nstable grain moisture along the storage duration than other containers.
