Buddha Sasana of Myauk Phet Taik (Northern Region)
Yee Yee Win
The tripartite relationship of the king, Sangha and people in the later Konbaung period is found very fruitful. The king as a patron and defender of Buddhism supported the Elder Sanghas with four basic necessities. The Sanghas in return gave the king good advices for the stability of administration and for development of the people. Common also supported the Order with food, shelter, robe and medicines. Because of their meritorious deeds the monks looked after them for not being molested and imposed illegal demand of money and labour by bad officials. Thus what we see is that when the tripartite relationship of the ruler, the Sangha order and the people are in good condition, the people could enjoy peace, stability and prosperity.
