XML retrieval, also referred to as StructuredDocument Retrieval is a discipline of informationretrieval that focuses on the retrieval of relevantdocument fragments for a given information needthat contains both content and structuralcomponents. In this paper, a system that canprovide structured document retrieval for XMLdocument is developed in order to enable the userto find the relevant XML fragment with structureand content queries. Structured XML documentsand path based simple queries are as the systeminputs. This system aims to retrieve the relevantXML fragments; a relevance values propagationmethod is used.Relevance propagation method isto evaluate the relevance values of each leaf nodeaccording to the content condition of query andpropagate relevance values along the documenttree until a node having the query tag name isfound. The main objective of proposed method isto retrieve the relevant XML fragments for userquery. The experiment of the system shows thecomparison of querying times and relevant XMLfragments are ranked.
