3D Medical Image Compression Using Adaptive Huffman Encoding Technique in mobile devices for wireless transmission
Aye, Zin Win
This paper presents adaptive Medical Image Compression using adaptive Huffman encoding technique for mobile devices to reduce the transmission energy of images through wireless networks. With an increase in the usage of mobile devices, users have to continually store and transport data on their mobile devices. In order to have efficient utilization of disk space and transmission rate in mobile computing environment, images need to be compressed. This reduction in file size saves disk/memory space and allows faster transmission of images over a medium. This paper proposes the framework for 3D Medical Image Compression using adaptive Huffman Encoding Technique in hospital information system (HIS). It evaluates these existing algorithms with a newly proposed scheme, Ternary Tree algorithm, implemented with improvements to make the algorithm fully complete. Image control can be used to display a graphical image - Icon (ICO), Bitmap (BMP), Metafile (WMF), GIF, JPEG, etc, then an algorithm is created to implement adaptive Huffman coding method that removes redundant codes from the image and compresses a BMP image file (especially grayscale image) and it is successfully reconstructed. This reconstructed image is an exact representation of the original because it is lossless compression technique.
