Simple Metrics for Web Page Level Interface Design Quality Measurement
Wah, Naw Lay
A Web site interface is a complex mix of text, links, graphic elements, formatting and otheraspects that affect the site’s overall quality. Theconcepts of traditional software engineeringusability guidelines can be applied to measurethe Web interface quality. Several Metrics wereproposed to correspond with items that Webusability guideline associate with good design, such as word count, total page size in bytes, bodytext percentage, average link text count andothers. In this paper, we propose the simplemetrics that were used to measure, categorizedby collected data source from health andeducation websites in order to judge the webpage quality. The goal of the system is to providethe practical establishment for Web site designguidelines and also propose which metrics canbe most important for evaluation by means ofuser studies. These simple metrics is intended tomeasure a quantitative analysis of severalattributes of Web page layout and compositionand their relation to usability.
